Greg Fyfe

Greg Fyfe is the Chief Investment Officer of the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), where he is responsible for driving the Bank’s end-to-end investment and financing strategy in support of infrastructure-led development across South Africa and the African continent.
With nearly 30 years of experience in infrastructure finance, sustainable finance, energy, mining, and project finance, Greg is widely recognised as one of the leading infrastructure and sustainable finance professionals in emerging markets.
At the DBSA, he leads the Bank’s Investment Division across infrastructure sectors including energy, transport, water, ICT, critical minerals, and social infrastructure, while overseeing a broad suite of financing solutions spanning debt, equity, blended finance, trade finance, and project preparation.
Prior to joining the DBSA, Greg held several senior executive leadership roles within the Standard Bank Group, including Global Head of Energy and Infrastructure Finance, Global Head of ECA Finance, and Head of Sustainable Finance.
His extensive experience includes originating and executing large-scale infrastructure and sustainable finance transactions across Sub-Saharan Africa, while working closely with development finance institutions, pension funds, export credit agencies, multilaterals, and institutional investors.
Greg has been instrumental in advancing sustainable finance innovation on the continent and led several market-first green, social, and sustainability-linked finance transactions across Africa.
He is passionate about mobilising capital towards sustainable infrastructure development and unlocking innovative financing solutions that support long-term economic growth, energy transition, and developmental impact across Africa.
Greg holds an MBA from the University of Reading (UK), postgraduate and undergraduate law degrees from the University of Pretoria, and is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
