Daniel Tutu Benefoh

Daniel Tutu Benefoh (PhD) is currently serving as Acting Director of the Climate Change Unit at Ghana’s Environmental Protection Authority (EPA). He has been with the Agency since May 2001 and acts as Ghana’s UNFCCC National Focal Person. His work involves participating in IPCC and UNFCCC negotiations, with a focus on methodological issues, low-carbon development, NDCs, transparency, and carbon pricing/markets. He also oversees Ghana’s carbon market office. Additionally, Daniel is vice-chair of the Global Methane Initiative and Ghana’s alternate Focal Person for the Climate and Clean Air Coalition. He lectures part-time on Carbon Accounting and Management at the University of Ghana’s Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Studies, contributes to the master’s programme in Low Carbon Energy Transition at Ghana Law School, and collaborates with government, local authorities, and the private sector.
